1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using Bytes(the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you don't agree, don't use the Service. If you're using Bytes on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. What the Service is

Bytes is a news reader that uses AI to summarize and categorize articles from third-party publishers. The Service provides:

• AI-generated summaries of publicly available news
• Personalized topic-based feeds
• Account features: bookmarks, likes, reading preferences
• Links to original sources (we do not republish full articles)

3. AI-generated content disclaimer

Summaries on Bytes are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations. Always verify critical information by reading the original source article linked in every card. Bytes is not a substitute for primary journalism, and we do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose.

Headlines and summaries are editorial interpretations by an AI model. Do not rely on Bytes alone for financial, medical, legal, or safety-critical decisions.

4. Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) to create an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
• You must provide accurate information and promptly update it when it changes.
• One person per account. Sharing accounts violates these Terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, download, or redistribute the AI-generated summaries at scale
• Present AI-generated summaries as your own original journalism or reporting
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying AI model or prompts
• Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm others
• Attempt to bypass rate limits or security controls
• Use automated tools (bots, crawlers) without our written permission

6. Intellectual property

Our content — the Bytes brand, software, design, and the compiled database of curated articles are owned by Bytes and its licensors. AI summaries are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial reading only.

Source content — the original articles linked from Bytes remain the property of their respective publishers. We do not claim rights to them.

Your content — you retain all rights to content you create (display name, profile). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to display that content back to you and, where relevant, to process it to deliver the Service.

7. Third-party content

Bytesaggregates links to external news sources. We don't control and aren't responsible for third-party content, availability, or accuracy. Your interactions with external sites are between you and them.

8. Warranties and disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BYTES AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM (WHICH, SINCE THE SERVICE IS FREE, MAY BE $0).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Bytes harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from: (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the Service, or (c) your violation of third-party rights.

11. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraud, or pose a risk to other users or the Service. Upon termination, your access to the Service ends, and we may retain some data as described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Modifications

We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced in-app and via email at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Bytes is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where local consumer protection laws require otherwise.

14. Miscellaneous

• Severability — if any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
• No waiver— our failure to enforce any right doesn't waive it.
• Entire agreement — these Terms, plus the Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy, are the full agreement between us.
• Assignment— you can't assign these Terms without our consent; we can assign them to an affiliate or successor.
